The pitting corrosion behavior of melt spun ribbon made at a wheel speed of 20 ms in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution and nonisothermal and isothermal oxidation behavior of 2 mm diameter rod samples of newly developed Zr58Cu22Fe4Co4Al12 bulk metallic glass have been studied. The pitting corrosion is more on the air side as compared to the wheel side mainly due to the presence of air pockets. The pitted regions are enriched with copper suggesting dealloying effect due to its noble nature. The alloy shows very good oxidation resistance compared to some of the exiting bulk metallic glass forming alloys. The oxidation leads to the formation of mainly tetragonal ZrO2 with the presence of monoclinic ZrO2, mixture of CuO and Cu2O and Al2O3. Copper in the alloy oxidized progressively with the appearance of white flowery globule shape which later forms interconnected faceted CuO network.  相似文献

Inert gas shrouding practices were simulated using a full-scale, four-strand water model of a 12-tone, delta-shaped tundish. Compressed air was aspirated into the ladle shroud to model volumetric flow rates that range between 2 and 10 pct of steel entry flows. Bubble trajectories, slag layer movements, and flow fields, were visualized. Flow fields were visualized using particle image velocimetry (PIV). A numerical model also was developed using discrete phase modeling (DPM) along with the standard k-ε turbulence model with two-way turbulence coupling. Predicted flow fields and bubble trajectories corresponded with the water model experiments.  相似文献

The effect of growth texture on the magnetostriction of ternary Tb0.3Dy0.7Fe1.95 was studied by conducting unidirectional solidification experiments using a zoning set-up. Detailed texture evolutions were studied using X-ray diffraction on samples obtained by varying growth rates from 18 to 72 cm/h, under a temperature gradient of 100 °C/cm. The estimated texture co-efficient and pole figures of the samples indicate that during the onset of the solidification, <110> and <331>/‘rotated <110>’ texture components nucleate and grow in all the samples. However, as the solidification progresses, <112> texture component becomes dominant at higher growth rate. This results in an improvement of magnetostriction from 1000 to 1300 microstrains for samples grown at growth rates of 18 and 72 cm/h respectively. The transition of preferred growth direction occurs through intermediate orientations <123>. An attempt has been made in this paper to explain the occurrence of different growth texture by considering the stability of growing interface, its planar packing fraction and atomic stacking sequence of several low index planes.  相似文献

Pulmonary delivery of sustained release formulations needs drug encapsulation in a suitable matrix, as well as the generation of aerosols with high lung penetration and suitable release characteristics. Nanometer sized liposomes offer the potential for biocompatibility, controlled release and easy internalization in the lung. For uniform dose delivery and drug release kinetics, it is of interest to understand generation techniques to obtain aerosols containing nearly monodispered nanometer sized dry particles. Two aerosolization techniques, air-jet atomization and electrohydrodynamic atomization (EHDA) were studied to identify conditions under which the inclusion of one-liposome-per-drop could be achieved. In air-jet atomization, low lipid concentrations resulted in a unimodal aerosol with a median mobility diameter of 94 (± 3.5) nm, while higher concentrations led to larger median diameters, implying possible inclusion of multiple liposomes per drop. In EHDA, tuning drop sizes in the range of 130 to 200 nm, as well as the use of high lipid concentrations, resulted in a bimodal aerosol distribution, with peaks at 35 and 100 nm mobility diameters. TEM images of the liposome aerosol from EDHA showed fused liposomes, resulting in cylindrical structures with different physical diameters. It was hypothesized that deformation of liposomes to cylindrical structures in the micro-capillary liquid tip of the electrospray, and interactions along the axial or cross sectional surfaces led to dry particles with different mobility sizes.  相似文献

Transmission of Bourdon gauge reading to a remote location is very important in industry. This requires a conversion of Bourdon tube displacement into an electrical signal with the help of a suitable transducer. In the present paper, a simple low cost reluctance type pressure transducer has been developed. Its theoretical analysis has been presented in the paper. The transducer has been developed and tested in the laboratory and has been found to follow the theoretical equations. The experimental results of the observed characteristics of the transducer are reported in the paper. A very good linearity and repeatability of the data has been observed.  相似文献

A new metaheuristic optimization algorithm is developed to solve truss optimization problems. The new algorithm, called cuckoo search (CS), is examined by solving five truss design optimization problems with increasing numbers of design variables and complexity in constraints. The performance of the CS algorithm is further compared with various classical and advanced algorithms, selected from a wide range of the state‐of‐the‐art algorithms in the area. The results identify that the final solutions obtained by the CS are superior compared with the best solutions obtained by the other algorithms. Influence of organic modifying agent of clay on dispersion, distribution, hybrid microstructure formation, and associated performance properties of epoxidized natural rubber‐based composites was evaluated. Binary and ternary composites of carbon black (CB) and two organomodified layered silicates (i.e., nanomer I30E and Cloisite 30B) were prepared and characterized based on small angle X‐ray scattering, transmission electron microscopy, hydrodynamic swelling, tensile measurement, and dynamic mechanical analyses. Greater extent of exfoliation and “nanounit” formation was noted in ternary composites containing nanomer I30E, which was reflected in higher interfacial roughness (ds = 2.82) and lower radius of gyration (Rg = 205 Å). Morphological observations suggested higher nanomer I30E–CB interactions than that of Cloisite 30B–CB. The interplatelet distance in Cloisite 30B (d = 1.83 nm) stacks was lower than that of nanomer I30E (d = 2.26 nm). These two factors jointly contributed in higher breakdown of nanomer I30E stacks by CB than that of Cloisite 30B stacks. Greater exfoliation and nanounit formation in I30E–CB‐filled nanocomposite was also reflected in increased degree of crosslinking (n = 20 × 10?5%), tensile modulus/strength, half height width of damping peak (20.3°C), and filler effectiveness (C = 0.33).
